Core Strategy on Chesham Housing
We need to put a case forward for Chesham if we feel that it would be inappropriate and unsustainable to build another 650 dwellings within the town boundaries by 2026.

Lucy Neal OBE: Art meets Trash: How Tooting plans to celebrate it's recycling future. Green Drinks 29th April 7.30pm the Drawingroom
Lucy began Transition Town Tooting (TTT) movement over two years ago. TTT members believe in a life beyond our dependency on oil. Lucy has worked tirelessly to promote environmental projects involving the Wandsworth community, promoting the problems we face over climate change at 'foodivals', talks and film events, discussion evenings and the upcoming Trashcatchers Carnival in July.
Transition Town Tooting and Emergency Exit Arts, is developing a project with the local community to examine environmental issues. The project aims to enable young people to investigate creative and practical solutions to global warming at local level. The project will create beauty from rubbish through the design, fabrication and animation of sculptures and costumes from discarded materials. Trashcatchers Carnival in Tooting will end in a large-scale community celebration mixing party and performance.
Greening your home
Carbon polluters
Like many residents in Chesham and Amersham the reaction to seeing the news reports of Chesham and Amersham topping the table of highest total CO2 emissions per household was dismaying.
Annoyed at the reports and presuming the data was a generalisation Chesham in Transition contacted experian (December 2009) for them to explain the results... experian were very forthcoming, helpful and supportive (experian have sent us the data for Chesham and Amersham), and by all accounts the data can be deemed accurate* and of course pretty damning! Well ok... if that's the case let's take it on the chin and do something about it!!!
We (Chesham in Transition) are in the process of organising a public event (or series of events tbc) to discuss the experian data together with a talk on measures we can take to reduce our carbon footprint.
If you would like to be notified of this and other events then please contact us.
